COMPASS

(Competitiveness Policy for Accelerating Sustainable Solutions)

Empowering Young People to Shape Europe’s Economic Future

To ensure that Europe’s competitiveness strategy reflects the voices of its citizens, COMPASS aims to strengthen youth participation in EU economic policymaking. At a time of geopolitical uncertainty, green transformation, and digital change, it is more important than ever to involve young people in discussions on competitiveness, strategic autonomy, and sustainable growth.

Across nine partner countries - Belgium, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, Romania, Slovakia, Cyprus and Lithuania - we create accessible spaces for dialogue between young citizens, policymakers, academics, and industry representatives.

Through Civic Incubator Labs, structured Competitiveness Dialogues, and a European Forum in Brussels, participants move from learning about EU economic governance to co-creating concrete policy recommendations. The project culminates in a Youth Strategy Paper on EU Global Competitiveness, ensuring that youth-driven proposals contribute to ongoing European debates.

Project duration: 01/01/2026 - 31/12/2027

ParticipEU

Strengthening Participatory Democracy in Brussels

To counter the growing distance between young citizens and European institutions, ParticipEU aims to strengthen participatory democracy by equipping youth with the tools to actively engage in EU policymaking beyond elections.

Through interactive workshops on the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) and the Have Your Say platform, as well as public debates and high-level discussions with EU decision-makers, we create accessible spaces for dialogue on key issues such as digital transformation and European security.

By combining structured exchanges with creative community formats like the European Picnics, ParticipEU lowers barriers to engagement and empowers young Europeans to shape the democratic future of Europe.

Project duration: May 2025 – October 2025

Citizens' Actions for Democracy

Empowering Citizens to Shape Democracy

To counter the disconnection between citizens and the High-level politicians, CitiDem aims to bridge the gap and strengthen participatory democracy. By actively involving citizens in the legislative process, we empower them to engage, deliberate, and shape the future of Europe.

Through National Citizen Assemblies held across partner countries - Greece, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, Slovenia, Austria, and the Netherlands - we aim to create spaces for open dialogue on key issues such as disinformation, climate, inclusivity, political participation, and migration. These discussions foster engagement, encourage diverse perspectives, and enhance democratic participation at all levels.

Project duration: 01/06/2024 – 01/06/2026

ALL4BXL

(Tous pour BXL / Iedereen voor BXL)

In the context of the Belgian communal elections taking place on the 13th of October 2024, Stand Up for Europe has identified the lack of engagement and information provided to the international community of Brussels as a major problem. Being the most international city in Europe, certain communes of Brussels (e.g. Ixelles, Etterbeek) have over 50% of their registered residents non-Belgians. However, EU citizens and other nationals who have been residing in the city for at least 5 consecutive years have the right to vote in the local elections.

With the support of the local authorities of the Brussels Capital Region, we have developed the project ALL4BXL (Tous pour BXL / Iedereen voor BXL) aiming to reach out to the expats residing in the 19 communes part of the Brussels Area through interactive and meaningful activities.

Project duration: 01/01/2024 - 12/10/2024
